Nick Foles tells Ellen DeGeneres he almost quit football

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles wanted to quit playing football two years ago.

The Super Bowl MVP opened up about his life and his NFL career during an interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show.

“I was going to stop playing the game two years ago,” said Foles. “There were different things going on in my life, my wife and I, and in my career as well to where I had lost the joy of the game.”

“If I don’t love this and it’s not in my heart, I can’t do this,” Foles said about making the difficult decision.

The 29-year-old said his wife, Tori, wrote him a letter encouraging him to get back in the game.

“I had to face my fear,” said Foles. “I needed to go back a face my failures … and learn to love the game of football again.”

In Part II of the interview, Ellen asked Foles about his future, and also gave him a pretty hilarious gift.
